Infrastructure
We have been blessed to live in one of the most desirable towns in Colorado. Although we all know this to be a great thing for us and our families, it does not come without infrastructure needs. Our town continues to be one of the fastest growing towns in Colorado. As our town continues to grow, the need for a forward-thinking board becomes increasingly important. In conversations with many residents, I have reaffirmed that we all leave Erie on a frequent basis to spend money on standard conveniences that we should have in our town. In addition, we have the location and ability to attract big business that will allow us to generate tax revenue from neighboring cities, without congesting our downtown and our streets. With our current level of rooftops and businesses, we are seeing the need to update, repair and change some of our streets and entrances into town areas. Additional houses and businesses will absolutely increase the wear and tear on these areas. As Mayor, I would love to work with the board, EEDC, town administrator and our various committees to attract business to Erie, specifically the I-25 corridor so that we can increase the incoming tax revenue. Increasing tax revenue from commercial development will allow our town to grow exponentially through the funding of improvements, parks, expansions, and additions. Providing convenience to our town’s residents should be a high priority for our board as it serves our residents as well as our ability to increase sustainable growth. This will require our board to take a business-minded approach to decisions to ensure we find businesses and opportunities that offer benefits to our town/residents as well as the businesses we want in our Town. I believe my background in business and business management as well as my ability to constructively and collectively find solutions to large problems will serve our town well as we advance in the next four years.
As Mayor. I would encourage the following:
- Adequate funds allocated to road improvement (repair, additional, reconstruct) throughout our town.
- Work with local residents and businesses to determine what our board can do to improve access to businesses without negatively impacting the quality of life for our residents, i.e. additional parking options while visiting the downtown area.
- Work with the planning commission and town staff to review the planning and approval process to ensure the decisions and qualifications put in place are in the best, long-term interest of our town.
- Work with the town on the water costs to find ways to decrease the cost of water for Erie residents without prolonging to payback for the infrastructure put in place to facilitate growth in water usage.
